New Machinery Directive Passenger Lift in small Flats

Client:

Small Building Company

Location:

Knaresborough, North Yorkshire

Problem Solved:

Our customer was retiring and building a lovely detached, high-end new build containing 4 flats. They were future proofing and needed access to the top penthouse flat so required a lift. Their brief was to have a self-contained shaft which would be on show.

A Machinery Directive lift was proposed to reduce the building work required, this meant a small pit 50mm and minimum headroom. The speed on these lifts are slower, however with only 1 floor to travel this was perfect and saved time, costly building work as well as lift costs. The lift had automatic doors, push buttons and full cabin. Only high-end materials were used to design this lift and the beautiful glass casing sits pride of place in the heart of the structure near the stair well. Ordered months before but due to unforeseen delays with the building, the lift was stored for them until they were ready for installation.
