DDA Compliant New Lift for School

Client:

Primary School

Location:

Manchester – Lancashire

Problem Solved:

Two of the children who attended the school were moving classrooms from ground floor to first floor and a Disabled Access lift was required to transport them. We had just under 2 months to quote a cost-effective solution, install and hand the lift over before the new term started.

We proposed a cost-effective Platform Lift to fit in a recess in the corridor. The school wanted little disruption from building work as possible so we offered a self-contained shaft with an access ramp to remove the need for a pit. The customer also wanted to ensure the lift was only used by authorised people so the ‘school lock’ feature was applied so access was only granted by a key holder. As it was their first lift, advice was given with regards to on-going maintenance and LOLER testing and they were hand held through each process.
